I am the pastor of Smith Chapel Wesleyan Church.  I did not grow up in church and I remember what it is like to be without Jesus Christ.  I try to be real when I share about Jesus Christ and what He has done in my life.  I don’t take part in the church worship wars that take place in our churches because the only taste that I have is the taste that seeks to give worship to Jesus on Sunday morning without being distracted by what I think is right.

I grew up on a farm in Indiana.  I’ve had many different types of jobs.  God called me out of those jobs and plugged me into ministry.  I am an alumnus of Southern Wesleyan University where I received my BA in Religion.  I am Ordained in The Wesleyan Church where I received my credentials by going through Ministerial Study Course Agency.  I started in a program called LifeGrow, took other correspondence courses, and finished in the Flame program.

I started as a youth pastor in Indiana in 1997 and had some great times there that I will cherish forever.  I was one of the founders of The Rock Ministries whose purpose was to “be” Christ to the children of our community who were at risk in many different ways.  Our goal was to do more than simply read The Bible, but demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ in a real way that met physical needs as well as spiritual needs.

I moved to South Carolina in 2003 to attend SWU and accepted the position at Smith Chapel Wesleyan as the part-time youth pastor.  In 2006, I became the senior pastor and have been serving at my current post since.  I believe that God wants to impact, in a serious way, Liberty.  My desire is to see transformation, not just proclamation.  I am not satisfied with signs that read In God We Trust in our schools.  I believe that is the wrong fight, or at least not The Church’s main priority.  Instead, I see the real battle is to put Jesus Christ back into our homes.  Jesus desires to be in charge of our personal lives; not just our public lives.

If you are in the Liberty area and are looking for a church, then I invite you to attend our church.  However, only if you want to seek discipleship that should enlist you into the effort to join Jesus in saving and transforming our community.  We are a small church, but we serve a big God.  We can offer you an opportunity to learn about and discuss Scripture and how it impacts, or hasn’t impacted, your life.  What is more, maybe you can serve with us at Smith Chapel.

God bless.  Test drive me throughout this blog.  You will see many views that I have and can even click a link, if you like, to hear recent messages.  If your heart is with mine, then come with me and let’s serve Jesus together.

Can you please send me the entire story of the bricklayers: What on earth are you doing here for heaven’s sake? I’ve heard that before and would like to have it if possible.

    Thank you
