10 struggles small church pastors contend with

  1. 1/3 of the congregation missing regularly on Sunday morning
  2. Being patient; waiting on the Lord
  3. Gain one person; lose two
  4. Financial short-fall in the long term; according to human standards
  5. Has to build up credibility with the community; time
  6. Always trying to fix any underlying discontent in the congregation
  7. Always trying to preach sermons that will motivate many; but only a fraction ever are
  8. Facility issues such as being outdated, small, in a tough location
  9. Must deal with lack of programs; there are always better churches somewhere else to go to
  10. Struggling to point different generations in one direction while appealing to both

  1. I’ve never been part of a large church, but suspect that items 1, 2, 6, 7, and 10 would be true in a large church, too, and maybe number 3, also.
